Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting - March 2000.
The following were amongst items discussed at the March meeting:
Girton Village Amenities Consultation Evening
The report from this meeting that took place in early February
will soon be available to anyone wishing to read it.
The Millennium Garden is now finished. Take time to go and
see it on the 'hump' at the Hibbert-Ware Garden. Well done to all
those who have worked hard on this project.
Discussions continue on the location and type of equipment to be
used. The Parish Council is hoping to obtain a grant from WREN (Waste
Recycling Environmental). Each tonne of waste placed in our landfill sites
is taxed,and the government has allocated 20% of this tax to fund projects
such as this.
The Parish Council will soon be accepting responsibility for the
Open Spaces and Play Equipment on this new development.
Work continues on the new pavilion. Some of the external
walls and doorframes are in place, and the building is really taking on
Girton College Millennium Ball
The Parish Council received complaints from villagers about the
level of noise from the Girton College Millennium Ball, and the fact that
the disturbance continued well past 4 a.m. on the Sunday morning.
The Council will convey these objections to the College, and try to ensure
this doesn't happen again.
District and Parish Council Elections
Please read the notices around the village regarding the above
elections on 4th May 2000.
