The Girton Parish Council

Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting - March 2000.

The following were amongst items discussed at the March meeting:

Girton Village Amenities Consultation Evening
The report from this meeting that took place in early February will soon be available to anyone wishing to read it.

Youth
The Millennium Garden is now finished.  Take time to go and see it on the 'hump' at the Hibbert-Ware Garden.  Well done to all those who have worked hard on this project.

BMX/Skateboard Facility
Discussions continue on the location and type of equipment to be used.  The Parish Council is hoping to obtain a grant from WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental). Each tonne of waste placed in our landfill sites is taxed, and the government has allocated 20% of this tax to fund projects such as this.

Weaver's Field
The Parish Council will soon be accepting responsibility for the Open Spaces and Play Equipment on this new development.

New Pavilion
Work continues on the new pavilion.  Some of the external walls and doorframes are in place, and the building is really taking on shape now.

Girton College Millennium Ball
The Parish Council received complaints from villagers about the level of noise from the Girton College Millennium Ball, and the fact that the disturbance continued well past 4 a.m. on the Sunday morning.  The Council will convey these objections to the College, and try to ensure this doesn't happen again.

District and Parish Council Elections
Please read the notices around the village regarding the above elections on 4th May 2000.

Village Diary
To avoid clashes of events within the village, please consult the Village Diary through Helen Wilson on 276940, before booking your event.  Diary dates are displayed each month in the Parish News.
