The Girton Parish Council
Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting - November
The following were amongst items discussed at the November 2000 meeting:
Reduced Speed Limit along Oakington Road.
The new 40mph speed limit is now in operation along the Oakington
Road. The Parish Council hopes motorists will abide by this new limit
which will increase the safety of those living on this road as well as
those using the facilities along the road.
Application to WREN
The Parish Council's application for a grant from the Waste Recycling
Environment Company to fund a BMX/Skateboard ramp on the Recreation Ground
will be considered in early January of next year.
The Parish Office is now located in the pavilion building.
The Clerk can be contacted there in the mornings (telephone C. 472181)
between 9am and midday on Monday through to Thursday. The Sports
Development Officer, John Baggaley can also be contacted at the pavilion
on C. 472183 regarding use of the sports facilities.
The building is more or less finished now, with the builders finishing
off a few last jobs. The Parish Council would like to thank everyone
for their input into this developmental project and looks forward to seeing
the pavilion put to good use. John Baggaley is taking bookings now
for use of any of the facilities, including the Assembly Room, which serves
well as a function room for parties or meetings. Thanks go
out too to Mr and Mrs Huxley who partly funded the smart clock on the exterior
wall of the building above the balcony.
It was nice to see so many people at the Remembrance Service last
Sunday. This important occasion was made even more special by the
refurbishment of the War Memorial.
This is the Cambridge to Huntingdon multi-Modal Study, which is
evaluating a variety of options to improve the transport system between
Cambridge and Huntingdon. The next exhibition date and venue for
public viewing is on Saturday 2nd December in the Free Church, Market Hill
in St. Ives. The Parish Council will be sending a representative
to the Members Preview off the exhibition on Thursday 23rd November
at Castle Park, Cambridge.
The next Parish Council meeting will be held in the Pavilion on
December 20th at 7.45pm.
