Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting - November 2004

1. Kitchen Waste Bins.
These free bins will be available for collection from the Pavilion on Saturday 6th and Saturday 13th November, between 10am and 12 midday. If anyone cannot manage either of these dates please call the Parish Clerk to arrange a time to collect one. Alternatively, ask a friend or neighbour to collect a bin for you. The bins will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. We have 800 bins in total.

2. Jubilee Coins.
The Council have about 300 coins left. If anyone would like one they will be available for collection at the same time as the kitchen waste bins.

3. Plastics Recycling.
Unfortunately the District Council are unable to provide us with another bank, but they have arranged for a twice weekly collection. In order to maximise the capacity of the bank, please crush your bottles and don't forget to remove lids.

4. Changes to Certain Waste Types.
SCDC Environmental Services have informed the Council of hazardous waste that must not be included in sacks or containers collected by them from businesses, however some of these items may also be produced in domestic waste. The items being classed as hazardous include: asbestos, batteries, refrigerators, oil (any type), cathode ray tubes (televisions and computer monitors) and fluorescent tubes. If you have any queries regarding the disposal of these items please call the SCDC Refuse Contact Centre on 08450 450063, or the Environment Agency on 08708 506506.

5. Youth Worker.
Plans are progressing well for the employment of a youth worker in the village, who will be under the supervision of the Town Charity and the YMCA. It is hoped that someone will be in place by next summer.

6. Paper Bin at St Vincent's.
The Council have decided not to replace this bin since it was set alight. The situation will be reviewed in 3 months time and residents asked whether they would like another one. Waste paper can be included in either the green wheelie bin or green recycling bin.

7. Forthcoming Meetings.
The next Planning meeting will be held on Wednesday 10 November in St Vincent's Close Community Centre at 8pm. The next Parish Council meeting will be held on Wednesday 17 November in Orchard Close Community Centre. The meeting will begin at 7.45pm.
