Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting - August 2005

The following were amongst items discussed at the 10th August meeting of the Parish Council and information received by the Clerk.

Proposed Conservation Area. The Conservation Area and Design Officer for SCDC will be holding a public presentation of the proposed scheme on October 7th with a display from 3.30pm and a formal presentation from 6.30- 7pm. The presentation will be held at the Pavilion on the Recreation Ground.

Village Sign. The renovation of the village sign was discussed by Councillors. Repairs needed include stripping and repainting the sign and replacing the pole which is split. The question of whether the sign is in the correct location in the village was also discussed. The Council is keen to involve the original committee in further discussions.

Northstowe. A complete set of plans for the Northstowe development are now in the Parish Office should anyone wish to look at them.

Recreation Ground. The Council agreed to purchase new ropes and poles for use on the Recreation Ground. New goals will also be purchased for the multi-use games area.

The Girton Wood. The Parish Council has appointed four volunteers who will oversee the management of the wood for the Woodland Trust. The Parish Council has also agreed to take over the mowing of the woodland paths using funds provided by the Woodland Trust.

Benches. Three new metal benches are to be purchased for the village to replace benches that have been vandalised. They will be situated at Manor Farm Road, Washpit Lane and the footpath behind St Vincentís Close.

Forthcoming Meetings. The Council is experimenting with a three-weekly cycle of meetings. The next Parish Council meetings will be held on Wednesday 21st September in Orchard Close Community Centre and Wednesday 12th October in St Vincentís Close Community Centre. Both meetings will begin at 7.30pm
