Notes of Parish Meetings
Notes from the Parish Council Meeting - March 2012
The following were amongst items discussed at Parish Council meetings and information received by the Clerk. The full minutes may be found here.
February Council Meeting
The Chairman reported that the finalisation of the revised agreement with Taylor Wimpey was close to completion, which will release the rest of the money for the redevelopment of the open spaces in Wellbrook Way. The Parish Council considered in depth the request from the Cricket Club to install permanent practice nets on the Recreation Ground. While the Council was very supportive of the project, we felt that the proposed location between the tennis courts and the pavilion raised too many problems to be acceptable. The Council has therefore given permission for nets to be installed at the SW corner of the Ground, beyond the MUGA. This will also entail the general clearing and improvement of this area, to the benefit of all.
South Cambridgeshire District Council has approved the Parish Council's recommendation of the name of Bullman Grove for the development at the end of High Street (currently known as Walnut Grove), in honour of the late Councillor Eustace Bullman.
The inaugural meeting of the Wellbrook Way Development Committee took place on 15th February, and the new Committee looks forward to working in collaboration with the Wellbrook Way Residents Association. The primary job for this committee is sourcing, planting and then maintaining replacements for the large number of trees and other greenery which have failed. This will require a great deal of co-operation from local residents to ensure its success and we would be grateful for volunteers.
The Parish Council has agreed to replace the wooden fence around the play area in Weavers Field with a metal bow-top fence like the one at the Recreation Ground.
The Council has been informed that the whole of the footway and kerbing of Woodlands Park is being replaced, in a job which will last to the end of March.
Councillor John Thorrold has been appointed as Village Plan Champion, and we appeal again for volunteers to help with this committee. If you feel you can offer your help, at any level, do please get in touch with the Clerk.
Looking towards Spring
The bulbs in the planters will soon be providing Spring colour in thevillage, and then soon after that the planters will be due for their Summer planting, so please let the Clerk know if you would like to sponsor one. Replanting costs £25.00 and happens twice a year; a new planter is £25.00 plus the cost of planting-up.
Dates of Next Meetings
The next meetings of the Parish Council will be on Wednesday 21st March and Wednesday 18th April 2012, starting at 7.30 p.m. at St Vincent's Close Community Centre. Members of the public are welcome to attend all Parish Council meetings and to speak in the open session at the start.
